Jeans On Friday - Updated Dress Code Policy

We are pleased to announce a change to our dress policy that will permit employees (who are not required to wear a uniform) to wear jeans on Friday.  Starting November 1, 2019, work-appropriate jeans are allowed to be worn on Fridays with a free-will donation to the TBH Employee Heart Fund.

  • Donations will be collected in Human Resources (after-hours at the switchboard in ER)
  • Other charities may be supported throughout the year
  • Jeans should be professional in appearance with no holes, slits, rips, or tears
  • Jeans should be hemmed at the bottom and not be tattered, baggy, skinny or bedazzled
  • Leadership has discretion to determine appropriate dress, based on departmental business needs

Below are examples of appropriate versus not appropriate.

In addition, it is very important that we maintain a professional image at TBH.  As of late, we have noticed that some employees have strayed from the direction outlined in the dress policy, so here are a few reminders with regard to the expectations that are specifically outlined:

  • Leggings, stretch pants, and sweatpants are not appropriate.  Leggings and stretch pants can be worn with dresses or skirts only.
  • Dresses and skirts will be no shorter than 2 inches above the top of the knee.
  • Dress pants are considered appropriate attire if loose fitting.
  • Dresses, shirts and blouses must have sleeves.
  • Non-clinical Departments: Soles and heels of shoes cannot be higher than 3 inches.

Below is a copy of the Dress Policy.  You can also reference it in PowerDMS.

To date, 21 employees have received assistance through the HEART fund. The HEART fund allows The Bellevue Hospital and its’ employees to financially assist other employees who face short-term, emergency and catastrophic needs when no other source of financial help is available.  The fund provides resources to cover basic needs such as rent, electricity, heat, gas and water services, food or assistance if a home is damaged or destroyed.  The complete policy and application can be obtained in PowerDMS or you may stop by HR for more information.
